Uganda and Germany renew bilateral and technical assistance cooperation
Today, the Republic of Uganda and the Federal Republic of Germany signed the Summary Record of the Negotiations on the Development Cooperation between the Republic of Uganda and the Federal Republic of Germany. The negotiations on development Cooperation focused on the provision of German Technical and Financial Assistance to Uganda for the period l2022-2024. The final phase of the negotiations took place at the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development in Berlin. The bilateral negotiations take place bi-annually in Germany and Uganda alternately. The Uganda delegation was led by the State Minister for Microfinance Hon. Alhajji Kyeyune Haruna Kasolo while the Germany delegation was led by Mr. Marcus von Essen, Head of the East Africa Division , Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), Berlin. The Germany side included officials from both GIZ and KfW, the technical development Agency and Financial development Agency respectively. The Uganda side included officials from ministries of Water and environment; Energy; Local government; Finance; Foreign Affairs; Justice and National Planning Authority. The Government of the Federal Republic of Germany reiterated their support towards Uganda’s development and the Government of Uganda appreciated the support and warm relations between Uganda and Germany.
